Lee County Composting Facility Project

Shelter Structures completes the first major Composting Facility in Florida
Shelter Structures has completed the installation of six (6) 166’W x 120’L x 42’H open ended buildings for the Composting Facility at the Lee/Hendry County Landfill. Built to withstand 120 mph winds, the shelters are being used to provide the weather protection needed to control the moisture content of organic debris while it is being composted. Lee and Hendry counties bring the debris to the facility, then utilize the compost at municipal sites. They can also sell the compost to private enterprise, as well as accepting debris from other counties and composting it for a fee.
This was a rush project with a very tight schedule. Shelter Structures had to coordinate closely with other contractors on the project to ensure timely completion.

Cerrey S.A. de C.V.- Tampico, Mexico

108'W x 76'3"H x 378'L on mobile track with Hilman rollers
Cerrey S.A. de C.V. of Nuevo Leon, Mexico, is the leading manufacturer of steam generation units, used extensively in the oil fields industry in the Middle East. They had been assembling the units outdoors in Tampico, Mexico, a town located on the Eastern shore of Mexico. They needed to be able to access any one of their 6 workstations at any time, and a conventional building would not allow that access. Because of quality control issues associated with the climate, they needed to cover their assembly operation, but they also needed access to any part of the line at any time. Shelter Structures' solution was to design and manufacture a 3 section building on Hilman rollers powered by a custom designed traction system. The units are now assembled inside, and quality control has improved dramatically.

Water Treatment Plant - Nashville, TN

Stuart, Fl, October 13, 2008 - W.L. Hailey reached out to Shelter Structures for a custom shelter to enclose a historic brick building while they rebuilt and upgraded the mechanical workings of the Water Treatment Plant in Nashville TN. W.L. Hailey included our structure's plans and building criteria from the inception of the project. This allowed them to illustrate the care and attention they would give to the preservation of the existing building. The job is currently ahead of schedule and completely weather protected, allowing work on and around the sensitive historic brick building to proceed without delays.
The shelter was erected by Micky Petty of Petty Construction. "We will move the shelter twice during the life of the project, so each section is covered while the work is being done. This was the most economical solution to keep the work on schedule, as there will be no weather damage or delays".
Shelter Structures, Philadelphia, PA is the premier manufacturer of custom engineered fabric covered steel buildings, providing weather protection and environmental containment for any industry.

Aircraft Canopies
Naval Air Stations
Kingsville, TX and Meridian, MS

Shelter Structures is proud to announce that we have completed the design, manufacture and erection of 36 shelters for the US Navy. The shelters, 50 feet long, 57 feet wide and 23 feet high, are protecting the Navys T-45 Goshawk trainers. These aircraft are used in the final phase of training Navy pilots to land on aircraft carriers.

Working closely with the Navy Training Command, we developed shelters to meet their design demands for tight clearance requirements and mandated certification for 130 mph wind loads.
Weather exposure creates significant aircraft maintenance and repair costs. Constant sunlight causes deterioration of exterior finishes, interior fittings and electronic components. Our shelters can lower cockpit temperatures by 80 degrees in the summer sun. These shelters also provide protection from hail which could otherwise severely damage aircraft skins. The translucent fabric covers allow natural light to be used, eliminating energy costs associated with traditional metal buildings.
We have been building shelters for the US military for several years and are proud of the confidence they have placed in us with their order for the first aircraft shelters for the Navy. We look forward to more collaborative projects in the future.
