Recycling / Waste Management
Shelter Structures has recently been working with municipalities and private contractors to help solve recycling and waste management issues at the local level. We are a member of the U.S. Composting Council, and are working to develop shelters that will better serve the communities they are in.
We recently completed the installation of six (6) 166’W x 120’L x 42’H open ended buildings for the Composting Facility at the Lee/Hendry County Landfill. Built to withstand 120 mph winds, the shelters are being used to provide the weather protection needed to control the moisture content of organic debris while it is being composted. Lee and Hendry counties bring the debris to the facility, then utilize the compost at municipal sites. They can also sell the compost to private enterprise, as well as accepting debris from other counties and composting it for a fee.
